PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE DEATH OF A SEXUALLY PENETRATED BENEFICIARY.

The Management of Don Bosco Fambul together with Aberdeen Women’s Centre, Rainbo Initiative, on the above date, engaged a cross section of the press to briefing them on the death of Joan Baimba a sexually penetrated beneficiary.

Joan Baimba was 12 when she was penetrated by a 28 year old man called Simeon Sesay in Blama town, Small Bo Chiefdom, Kenema District in December 2019. She was referred to Don Bosco by National Head of the Family Support Unit of the Sierra Leone Police, Madam Fatmata Jebbeh Daboh-Kamara on the 19th September 2020 and Don Bosco Fambul through the passionate Director Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli took care of her medical bills with assistance from Aberdeen Women’s Centre.

An operation was conducted on her to ameliorate her problem. She spent sometime time at the Aberdeen Women’s Centre and later discharged and returns to the Girls’ Shelter department at the New Don Bosco Fambul Therapy Centre at During town, Western Area Rural District. Her condition later deteriorated and she was taken to the Aberdeen Women’s Centre where an operation was carried on her. Her condition never stabilizes and later succumbed to her pains on the 8th January, 2021.  The media was admonished to give out the correct information to the public and by extension the government on the horrors teenage and young girls are going through in Sierra Leone.
